Consider bringing a portable air purifier if you're sensitive to damp smells in the rooms.

The lounge area offers a cozy spot for unwinding, filled with charming decor that enhances its inviting atmosphere. The hotel features a bar with a solid selection of beverages, creating a comfortable space to enjoy refreshments.
Upon entering, the musty smell fills the air, giving an unwelcoming first impression. The carpeted stairs leading to the rooms felt dated and stained, while the corridors had piles of unkempt cleaning supplies that detracted from the overall tidiness. My attic room had a noticeable damp odor, and the old shower curtain and poorly designed bathroom fixtures raised concerns about maintenance. the television only seemed to want to play one channel, and the absence of basic tea-making facilities like a kettle was a bit disappointing.

A Hidden Gem with Potential!
Although our stay had its challenges, the staff went the extra mile to help. The bar area felt welcoming, and a lovely pub nearby provided tasty refreshments. For a smoother experience, considering alternative dining options is advisable. Looking forward to seeing improvements in accommodations!

The room was cramped and smelled damp right away. The carpeted stairs were pretty dirty too, not a great first impression. Our attic room had an old shower curtain and the TV only worked on one channel, which was super annoying. We had to open the windows just to breathe. no kettle for tea, just a questionable bottle of water—yikes. I could definitely feel the mattress springs while trying to sleep. Not a fun stay.

Just a commendable fit for a transient visit in Saffron Walden with exceptional value. The staff do their best here, but the overall experience is quite substandard. Avoid the attic rooms if possible.
